Local Judge Steps Down
Douglas VanMiddlesworth, former Assistant Attorney General for Indiana, prosecutor, private attorney, and auctioneer, resigned his office a Judge of the Wayne Circuit Court after 20 years. This move will give Mitch Daniels the task of picking a replacement to finish out Doug’s term, which ends in 2006. Wayne County has a long history of very good judges, and locals hope that this will continue with the new appointment. However, as Indiana trial judges have not had a pay raise in over five years, the job is less attractive to many qualified attorneys.
