Ag Park vote coming up in Delaware County
Up in Muncie, the Delaware County Commissioners are quickly approaching a vote of the proposed Ag Park. To support the idea, the Farm Bureau sent the Commissioners on a tour of an ethanol plant in Palestine, Illinois:
“I saw no problems, no fires, no explosions, only a slight odor right around the building,” [Tom] Bennington said of the Lincolnland tour. “I think it’s safe, and the liabilities are over-exaggerated.”“If we don’t put in restrictions, I’m not in favor of it,” Brooke said Monday of the 800-acre ag park, referring to “reasonable amendments” he has proposed to safeguard Shideler residents against pollution, odor, noise, rodents and other possible disadvantaged.Larry Crouch, president of the board of county commissioners, intends to act on the re-zoning for the ag park on Nov. 21. “I don’t want it to drag through the holidays,” he said. Crouch is “leaning toward” approval of the ag park, but says he is “not totally swayed.”
