Richmond Water Rule Could Come to Vote Tonight

The revised aquifer protection ordinance is coming up again before the Richmond Common Council Monday night. It will likely be passed in its current form, which is a little watered down (no pun) from its original state to accommodate the concerns of local industry interests:
 

Battle over its passage has pitted local environmental activists against business people.

Caught in the middle are city officials who have little choice in passage of the ordinance. The federal government has mandated that municipalities create plans to protect their drinking water supplies.
